Everything You Need To Know About Caring For Your Hardware Belt

Posted by Sasha W. on

Built for tough environments, the hardware belt is made for those who go hard– without sacrificing on comfort. Based on feedback from our customers who found that our A2 Stretch Belts didn’t provide quite enough support for items like tools and gear, we reformulated our signature performance stretch into a stiffer webbing, and combined it with our highest tensile strength buckle system.

The TL;DR? The hardware work belt is tough enough to support your needs day in and day out. But how do you take care of it? Follow along for the complete guide to caring for your hardware belt.

1. Washable, Not Dryable

The most important thing to keep in mind is that working belts are washable– not dryable. This means that you can throw them in the washer with the rest of your clothing, but you should avoid putting them in the dryer. Unlike other items in your closet, this isn’t because the high heat from the dryer will shrink it, but the opposite: because the hardware on the belt has the potential to damage your dryer as it spins.

2. Keep It in Your Belt Loops for Convenience

For the ultimate convenience, throw your hard belt in the wash while still threaded through the belt loops of your pants. Hang dry them both and voilà, they’re ready for another wear. This tactic isn’t specific to hardware belts, but all of the belts we offer at Arcade.

3. Pre-Treatment for Stains

The Hardware Belt’s tightly woven fabric stands up to scuffs, pills, and tears with long term use– but that doesn’t mean accidents don’t happen. If you spill something extra-messy on your Hardware Belt, we recommend pre-treating it with a stain remover suitable for the belt before washing. Apply the solution directly to the stain and gently rub it in. Let it sit for a few minutes before washing as usual.

We’re big fans of our line of workwear belts, and think you’ll be, too. To see what they’re all about, check out our full collection.
