Like our belts, we take function, durability, and comfort seriously when it comes to our suspenders. They’re perfect for holding up your pants on a hike or keeping your snow pants snug around your waist while on the slopes. With heavy-duty stretch webbing and durable, no-slip metal clips, our belt suspenders are made to move with you – regardless of the activity.
For most of us, however, getting dressed in the morning is a solo activity – which has left many wondering: how do you put ski suspenders on by yourself? That’s why our team created a step-by-step guide to walk you through the process. Let’s get started.
Step 1: Choose the Right Suspenders
The first step in putting on suspenders might be the most obvious: making sure you have the right pair for your body and preferred activities. At Arcade, we offer two different widths, standard and slim, as well as two different lengths, standard and youth.
For more information on which size is best for you, take a look at our size guide.
Step 2: Prepare Your Outfit
Now that you have the right suspenders, it’s time to put on your outfit for the day – yes, snow pants included, if you’ll be wearing your snow pant suspenders on the slopes. For those starting the day dressed in multiple layers, we recommend putting them on before you put your suspenders on to make sure they’re adjusted the right way from the start.
Step 3: Attach the Suspenders to Your Pants
Now, it's time to attach the suspenders to your pants. We broke this step into two parts:
-
Clip the front ends of the suspenders to the waistband of your pants: Position the clips near the center or slightly towards the sides of the waistband.
-
Make sure the clips are secure and evenly spaced: Check that the clips are firmly attached and not pulling the fabric too tightly. The clips should be secure enough to hold your pants up without causing discomfort.
Step 4: Pull the Suspenders Up
With the suspenders attached to the front of your pants, it's time to pull them up. Here’s how we recommend doing so:
-
Grab the back ends of the suspenders: Reach behind you and grab the loose ends of the suspenders.
-
Pull them over your shoulders: Bring the suspenders over your shoulders, making sure they sit flat and don’t twist.
Step 5: Adjust for Comfort
Once the suspenders are on, you need to adjust them for all-day comfort and fit using their built-in adjusters. Slide the adjusters to lengthen or shorten the suspenders to your desired fit, making sure they feel snug but not too tight. If you have access to a mirror, we recommend using it to check that your suspenders are properly aligned.
Now that you know how to put your hiking suspenders on by yourself, it’s time to get out and enjoy the activities you love. Whether you’re hitting the slopes or going for a hike, your suspenders are made to move with you… literally.
