5 Tips For Taking the Stress Out of Flying

Posted by Sasha W. on

Many of the best adventures start at the airport. While new adventures certainly bring a sense of excitement with them, navigating delays, long wait times, and other logistics are often pretty stressful.

To help make your next trip as stress-free as possible, we compiled a list of tips from our team. Let’s get into it:

1. Book your flights as early as possible

While it might seem obvious, booking your flights as soon as possible is one of the best ways to start your trip off right. Early booking not only means lower prices for many airlines, but also gives you the best choice in seating and flight times – which can mean the difference between a flight that leaves at a reasonable hour and a red-eye.

2. Arrive to the airport early

One of the simplest ways to reduce stress on the day of travel is to give yourself plenty of time at the airport. Getting to the airport early means that you’ll have time to get through security, find your gate, and maybe even relax a bit before boarding – a buffer that can be a lifesaver in the face of unexpected delays like traffic on the way to the airport or long lines at security.

3. Ditch the checked luggage

There’s freedom in traveling light. When navigating air travel, it pays to ditch your checked bag and travel with only your carry-on. This way, you can bypass the check-in counter, avoid waiting at baggage claim, and reduce the risk of your luggage getting lost along the way – while keeping all your essentials with you throughout the journey.

4. Prioritize your health

It’s no secret that flying takes a toll on your body. That’s why it's important to prioritize your health before, during, and after your trip. For overnight flights, bring items that will help you sleep, such as an eye mask, earplugs, and a neck pillow. Staying hydrated is important no matter the length of your flight, so be sure to bring your reusable water bottle and stowe electrolyte tabs in your bag to keep your hydration levels up.

5. Stay comfortable

Whether it’s navigating airport security, attempting to sleep on the plane, or adjusting to changing cabin temperatures, we can’t recommend dressing in clothing that keeps you comfortable throughout your travel day enough.

For the ultimate convenience through airport security, opt for a travel belt that’s both comfortable in-flight and doesn’t need to be removed during TSA checks. These airport friendly belts are constructed from lightweight performance webbing that doesn’t dig into the skin, and features a low-profile, molded plastic belt buckle that dials into your exact fit.

While we can’t book your flight or pack your bags, the team at Arcade can help make your next travel day a little easier by pointing you in the direction of our non metal belts for airport security – made to change the way you think about belts.
